What Can You Expect In The NID Entrance Exam?
Admission to all the programmes at NID is based on the candidate’s performance in the Design Aptitude Test (DAT). The test is divided into two stages; DAT Prelim and DAT Mains. The objective is to assess the knowledge and behavioural abilities of the candidate.
For B.Des DAT Prelims, students will have a 3-hour paper comprising two sections, the first being Common Design Aptitude Test and other Discipline Specific Tests. Similarly, students applying for M.Des would have a similar format, but the duration would be two and a half hours. The test is a mixture of objective and subjective questions.
For B.Des DAT Mains, students will have a Studio Test. M. Des applicants, in addition to taking the Studio Test, will also have to appear for a personal interview.
The final NID DAT results would be based 40% on DAT prelims and 60% on DAT Mains for B.Des students. For students pursuing M.Des, the results will be based on 30% of DAT Prelims, 40% on the Studio Test, and 30% on personal interviews.
