Our Elementary & Intermediate Grade Exam Classes are designed to help students build strong drawing fundamentals while preparing for state-recognised government examinations conducted across Maharashtra. These exams are held once a year, usually in the last week of September, and are evaluated on a merit basis.
As one of the established art classes in Mumbai, we emphasise structured training, exam readiness, and long-term creative development.
Students appear for four compulsory subjects:
- 2D Design
- Memory Drawing
- Still-Life / Object Drawing
- Plane Geometry / Solid Geometry / Lettering
On successful completion, candidates receive a government-issued certificate that is widely accepted for admissions into art colleges and other higher education institutions.

What Is the Elementary Exam?
Many students and parents ask, what is the elementary exam, and why does it matter? The Elementary Drawing Grade Exam is a government-recognised qualification that assesses a student’s foundational skills in observation, imagination, geometry, and visual representation. It acts as the first formal step for students interested in art, design, and creative careers.
For many students, this qualification becomes a strong reason to choose art and design in school, as it builds creative confidence while offering academic and career advantages.
Difference Between Elementary and Intermediate Drawing Exams
The elementary drawing exam focuses on building basic skills such as proportion, line quality, simple composition, and fundamental geometry. It is ideal for beginners who are starting their formal art education.
The intermediate drawing exam, on the other hand, tests more advanced abilities like detailed composition, accuracy, depth, and creative application of concepts. Together, both levels ensure a gradual and structured development of artistic skills.
Elementary Drawing Exam Syllabus
The elementary drawing exam syllabus is carefully structured to develop technical ability and visual thinking. Students are trained in:
- Observation-based drawing
- Creative memory drawing
- Geometric constructions
- Design fundamentals and neat presentation
This balanced syllabus prepares students not only for the exam but also for future competitive design and art entrance tests.
Benefits and Career Advantages
There are several long-term elementary drawing exam benefits for students:
- Students passing the exam receive 5–15 additional marks in the 10th Board Examination (applicable to all boards).
- Eligibility for 2% reservation under the cultural quota for junior college admissions.
- The exam serves as an eligibility criterion for certain art & design careers, helping students keep creative career options open.
- Grades earned contribute to higher scores in the MAH-AAC-CET exam:
Grade A: +10 marks
Grade B: +6 marks
Grade C: +4 marks
