UAF Expo Brings Design Institutes Together for the Future

On behalf of Urmi’s Art Forum (UAF), we extend our sincere appreciation for your participation in the UAF Expo Mumbai 2026 – a landmark moment in the city’s design education calendar. The Urmi’s Art Forum design expo, officially titled UAF Expo – Next in Design Futures, brought together leading design institutes, educators, and students to explore one shared belief: design education in India is at an inflection point, and the conversation needs a platform worthy of its ambition.

The Next in Design Futures event Mumbai was hosted at our studio in Vile Parle, making it one of the most focused and intimate design expos in Vile Parle, Mumbai to have received state-level ministerial recognition. As a design education event in Mumbai 2026, the Expo was structured around live student showcases, design thinking demonstrations, and open dialogue between participating institutions.

During his visit, he engaged closely with participating institutions and placed a defining question at the heart of innovation in design education Maharashtra: “What new has been done by design students this year?”

His words reinforced a principle UAF has held since its founding: that creative education must be forward-moving, not self-congratulatory.

Minister Patil also appreciated UAF’s vision and invited us to submit a formal proposal, assuring his support for initiatives that promote innovative thinking and impactful design solutions. This invitation represents a meaningful milestone in Urmi’s Art Forum government recognition 2026 and reflects the growing credibility of UAF as an institution shaping design education future India 2026. It is a recognition of UAF’s 15-year journey in design education – from a single studio in Vile Parle to a government-acknowledged leader in design education in Maharashtra.

On the following day, the Honourable Minister of Cultural Affairs, Shri Ashish Shelar, visited the expo and expressed strong support for the Ashish Shelar art education initiative Mumbai that the Expo represents – a platform where design institutes come together under one roof with institutional purpose and state-level backing.

He confirmed that the next edition of the UAF Expo will be organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Cultural Affairs – marking the formal beginning of a Ministry of Cultural Affairs design education India partnership that positions UAF’s Expo as a state-level initiative, not just a single-institute event.

This is a significant step forward for the broader Maharashtra government design education initiative. Moving from a standalone event to a government-backed design education initiative in Mumbai with ministerial co-organisation means expanded reach, greater institutional participation, and – most importantly – a more powerful platform for student visibility across Maharashtra. It is one of the clearest signals yet that government support for art education in Mumbai 2026 is moving from intention to structured action.

With Minister Shelar’s confirmation, the UAF Expo 2027 next edition is set to expand significantly – becoming a design expo in Mumbai 2027 co-organised with the Ministry of Cultural Affairs. This Ministry of Cultural Affairs art expo Maharashtra partnership will bring the event into a new scale of reach – drawing design institutes, schools, colleges, and cultural organisations from across the state into a shared conversation about where design education goes next.
